Maximum Illumination in Minimum Space!

Many homeowners are now discovering the beauty of recessed lighting, and you can be next! Have you been thinking about maximum illumination for your space? If so, there are some considerations that you need to think about. What are your needs for your space? What space do you wish to light up? Are you looking to drop an accent to artwork? Do you need to maximize energy efficiency in a specific area? By considering your purposes and needs, you will be able to determine if this type of luminaries is right for you.

Purposes

The most important factor in determining if you are selecting the right type of fixture is the purpose that you have for it. Are you looking to glow up your work area? If so, it is likely that you wish to get as much light as you can, and that you spread it around evenly in order to eliminate shadows. For the living room or dining room, you might want to give yourself the ability to control the levels to suit the occasion, such as turning switches up higher for one purpose and down low for entertaining. If this is so, then you will want to go for options that are placed near your wall. If the room is painted in a bright color, you will want less luminaries than if you have a room that has been painted in dark colors. This is often true of a den or library.

Placement

When determining the placement for recessed style illumination, divide the height of the ceiling by two and then you simply space your fixtures out using that figure. For example, if the ceiling is eight feet tall, then ideal place is in a grid with around four feet in between them. Generally, the lower your ceiling, the fewer number of them you will need. When installation is in a room with a low ceiling, you can always get by with spacing the luminaires out further.
